Reviews about Dickey's Barbecue Pit
- 1 / 5By Heather AndersonI really tried to love this place. The food is pretty good, but the service is terrible! My husband and I have been in there three times now for dinner around seven (they close at nine). The first time they were out of just about everything, complained about having to fry okra for us, and when we sat down our green beans were cold and the okra was still frozen in the center. The second time was just about the same. Out of several items on the menu, sauce, tea, onions. When we told them they were out of tea they said it was too late to make more! We didn't go back for months and decided to give it one more try this evening and it was the same thing! When I asked them why they're always out of food he explained to me that it was too late to cook anything.. but they don't close for two more hours! And apparently it was too late to get me onions and pickles too because when I asked them for some they ignored me... we will never be back! Very disappointed customers..
Side note, we left and headed to Tony's BBQ to have dinner and we're very pleased! They even insisted on preparing us fresh okra after we said they could give us what was left.January 31, 2017 - 5 / 5By jason thiviergeWas sceptical of a chain BBQ place, but it really good food. Me and my buddy stop almost every Thursday for lunch now. Staff is super nice, definitely a great place to stopJune 17, 2016
- 1 / 5By George LewisIn Lumberton, you'd better be there at least 30 minutes early. They leave the sign on saying "open", but the doors are ALWAYS LOCKED AT LEAST 10 minutes early. You drive to the front door, get out and pull on the door and it's locked... furniture on tables and mopped, the Dick-weeds pretend you're not even there. I tried getting a relationship going there anyways since I hated always driving to Beaumont (30 minutes from home) for BBQ but had for over ten years. One young man there (or used to be there) was conscientious and cared about what HE served, especially if you asked particularly for leaner meat. You ask for extra-lean, you'd get it (even though it NEVER was smoked as dark or as lean as the Bmt. guys), someone said it was from a different cut. If HE was in doubt, he'd show you what he had and ask if that was okay. That's GREAT with me, I appreciated that! I wouldn't mind the spongier and pale meat, unless it was ladened with FAT. If you had the girl slicing and you asked for extra lean, you're getting just what SHE WANTS YOU HAVE. After being locked out 4 different times anywhere from 8 to 15 minutes early, I came in the last time and you guessed it, cell phone said 8:41, sign said "OPEN", drove in to park at the front door, pulled on the door and it was locked! Looked at my phone again and it was 8:44. I understand not wanting pesty customers coming and dining in at 15 minutes till closing time, but I NEVER ATE IN, it was ALWAYS "to go"! I had come in there two to three times a week for three weeks, I thought they'd treat me with more respect than that. They'd just pretend they didn't see the headlights glaring in the door. Since I had just given 1/4 lb of fat-ladened crap to my dogs that the blonde girl sold me on my last trip (of course, it was under the little-better looking meat on top {be advised to look before you leave}), I had to go to Goings (3/10 mile north, same side of the road) because NOW I didn't have time to get to Beaumont before they'd close at 9:00. I walked into Going's, no frustrated glares from the staff, but instead a nice voice welcomed me as I entered the door, even though now it was about 5-10 minutes before THEY would be closing. I asked for a pound of extra lean, sliced BBQ and as soon as I saw the slab of brisket the guy was cutting from, told him to make it TWO lbs. I didn't know if I was just lucky to get in on a good cut or not, since you roll the dice at Dickey's. However, that was 1-1/2 years ago. I spend at least $120.00 per month there EVERY MONTH, YEAR ROUND now. I buy two pounds at a time, two times a week. THANKS DICKIES FOR ALWAYS CLOSING EARLY and viewing your customers as an interruption of your "work", I may would have never tried Going's otherwise. Read my review of Goings.May 30, 2016
